For the second consecutive year, the champions coming out of Rodeo Corpus Christi will form half of the WCRA’s Kid Rock’s Rock N Rodeo team. The WCRA Major event, part of the annual Buc Days Festival, takes place from May 6-10 at the American Bank Center on the Corpus Christi Bayfront. The total payout of more than $600,000 will dedicate more than $60,600 to each discipline.

The 2025 WCRA Team, “The Free Riders” team will be formed via the Top 2 finishers from each discipline who have not already been drafted after the 2025 Rodeo Corpus Christi on May 10, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Nominations for the May 7-10 Rodeo Corpus Christi are open now and will close on April 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
The six teams comprised of two athletes per discipline will go head-to-head in a team format, competing in a bracket-style competition featuring Kid Rock live in concert.
- Barrel racing
- Bareback riding
- Saddle bronc riding
- Tie-down roping
- Team roping
- Steer wrestling
- Breakaway roping

Each discipline will be showcased as the teams battle through the first three rounds of competition. All teams will go head-to-head in a randomly seeded Round 1, with the winning team from each showdown automatically advancing.
The top performer of the three losing teams will earn a Wild Card berth in Round 2. The four advancing teams will then compete head-to-head in Round 2, with the winners earning a spot in the final round, determining the discipline victor – each discipline finish earns points for each team to qualify to the ultimate TEAM SHOWDOWN – the Top 2 Teams competing one final time for the Team title.
