WCRA’s final leg of the 2021 Triple Crown of Rodeo (TCR) will culminate at the historic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas December 15-18. The WCRA “Cowtown Christmas Championship Rodeo” will have no entry fees and will payout more than $360,000 with $40,000 guaranteed per discipline.

What Are The Nomination Dates?

Athletes are eligible to nominate their competitive efforts in the Virtual Rodeo Qualifier (VRQ) until Sunday, November 28, 2021 at 11:59 pm CT.

Number 1 on the  Leaderboard will be seeded into the Showdown Round.  The Number 1 on the WCRA Leaderboard may participate in the Progressive Round of competition for prize money and will not jeopardize their seeded position

With the launch of the VRQ point structure in December, WCRA is requiring all athletes to earn a minimum amount of points to be eligible to compete at TCR events without penalty.
  • Athletes must earn a minimum of 15 VRQ leaderboard points

EXAMPLE: If an athlete qualifies to compete in a TCR event on the Leaderboard or as an alternate, BUT has not met this minimum point threshold, they will be required to pay a $300 penalty fee and must nominate the event toward the next WCRA Segment.

What is The Payout?

EVENT PAYOUT – $360,000 guaranteed payout ($40,000 per discipline):

    • PROGRESSIVE ROUND ($4,000 per discipline/performance)
      • 1ST – $1,600

How Many Qualify?

The Top 24 Athletes from the Cowtown Christmas Championship Rodeo (Segment FW21) Leaderboard in the following disciplines will be eligible participate at WCRA Cowtown Christmas Championship  Rodeo– Bareback Riding, Women’s Breakaway Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping (Heading and Heeling), Tie-Down Roping, Barrel Racing, and Bull Riding

    • November 30, 2021 @ 2pm CT – Preliminary WCRA Leaderboard Update All WCRA athletes have from Tuesday, November 30 at 2pm CT – Wednesday, December 1 at 2pm CT to email [email protected] to declare a dispute in the results. After this deadline, all points on the WCRA Segment FW21 Leaderboard are final.

ENTRY FEES AND FORMAT:

    • ALL DISCIPLINES (BAREBACK RIDING, SADDLE BRONC RIDING, BULL RIDING, TIE DOWN ROPING, STEER WRESTLING, TEAM ROPING-HEADING, TEAM ROPING-HEELER, BREAKAWAY ROPING, BARREL RACING):
      • Entry fees of $0 for a up to 24 athletes which qualify exclusively through WCRA VRQ in each discipline with a minimum of fifteen (15) VRQ points in Segment FW21.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

      • Progressive Round (Performances #1-3) – up to 24 athletes
        • Performance Preference draw based on Leaderboard standings
        • 8 Athletes per performance
      • Showdown Round (4th Performance) – 7 athletes from the advancement qualifications listed in the “TCR Performance” section of this document Top 3 fastest times advance to the Triple Crown of Rodeo Round
        • Showdown and TCR Rounds are clean slate rounds
Triple Crown of Rodeo Round

TCR PERFORMANCE:

    • Final day/night of the TCR Event.
    • Total payout $252,000 or $28,000 per discipline, nine standard WCRA disciplines shall be included in the final TCR Event Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Tie-Down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping Header, Team Roping Heeler, Barrel Racing and Breakaway Roping
    • Total of 7 athletes are eligible to advance to the TCR Event (4th Performance) in each of the seven disciplines. One (1) – The number one ranked athlete, in each discipline, on the WCRA VRQ Segment FW21 Leaderboard
    • Top two (2) athletes from each of the three (3) Semi-Final performances in each discipline.
    • Seven (7) Athletes in each of the nine standard WCRA disciplines will participate in the Showdown Round.
    • Showdown Round – The Top three (3) in each discipline will advance to the Triple Crown of Rodeo Round for one final competitive ride or run
    • Showdown and TCR rounds are clean slate rounds
