Rodeo Corpus Christi will be the first 2021 WCRA Major Rodeo and the first stop of the 2021 Triple Crown of Rodeo (excluding the steer roping).
The Triple Crown of Rodeo Event will pay out over $545,000 and will be held in conjunction with a PBR event during The Buccaneer Days Festival in Corpus Christi, Texas May 6-9, 2021 at the American Bank Center.
The Triple Crown of Rodeo is an annual bonus that will pay $1 million to any one athlete or collection of athletes who win first place in any three consecutive WCRA Major Rodeos

Athletes are eligible to nominate their competitive efforts in the WCRA Virtual Rodeo Qualifier (VRQ) until April 11, 2021 at 11:59 pm CT.
Youth athletes age 13-18 will have an opportunity to compete in the $545,000 Rodeo Corpus Christi and a $21,000 DY incentive. The top 12 timed event athletes on the WCRA DY Segment 7 Leaderboard as of April 11 will participate in the qualifying rounds and be eligible for their own incentive purse as well as having the same opportunity to advance through the entire rodeo.
Bareback, Saddle Bronc, Bull Riding:
- Up to Top 30 from WCRA Segment 7 Leaderboard
- #1 Segment 7 Leaderboard athlete seeded in Showdown Round and is eligible to participate in Progressive Round for payout
Heading, Heeling, Tie-Down, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Steer Roping:
- Up to Top 64 from WCRA Segment 7 Leaderboard and up to Top 12 from WCRA DY Leaderboard
- #1 Segment 7 Leaderboard athlete seeded in Showdown Round and is eligible to participate in Qualifying Rounds and Progressive Round for payout
- #2-4 Segment 7 Leaderboard athlete seeded in Progressive Round and is eligible to participate in Qualifying Rounds for payout.
Steer Roping:
- Up to Top 64 from WCRA Segment 7 Leaderboard
- #1 Segment 7 Leaderboard athlete seeded in Showdown Round and is eligible to participate in Progressive Round for payout
