Rodeo Corpus Christi will be the first 2021 WCRA Major Rodeo and the first stop of the 2021 Triple Crown of Rodeo (excluding the steer roping).  

The Triple Crown of Rodeo Event will pay out over $500,000 and will be held in conjunction with a PBR event during The Buccaneer Days Festival in Corpus Christi, Texas May 6-9, 2021 at the American Bank Center.

The Triple Crown of Rodeo is an annual bonus that will pay $1 million to any one athlete or collection of athletes who win first place in any three consecutive WCRA Major Rodeos

All disciplines minus steer roping discipline are eligible for the Triple Crown of Rodeo Bonus.

Where will the event be broadcasted?

The Championship event will be featured on a CBS Television network broadcast while the qualifying rounds and main event will be live on Ridepass.

DY (Youth) Athlete Information

WCRA welcomes back Division Youth (DY) to competition within the VRQ platform in 2021 with the Rodeo Corpus Christi WCRA DY Incentive.  Youth athletes age 13-18 will also have an opportunity to participate at this event. The top 12 timed event athletes on the WCRA DY Leaderboard will participate in the qualifying rounds and be eligible for their own incentive purse as well as having the same opportunity to advance through the entire rodeo 

What are the nomination dates?

WCRA VRQ Segment 7 is currently open for nominations. Segment 7 Rodeo Corpus Christi, Texas will close Sunday April 11, 2021 at 11:59 P.M.

The No. 1athlete in each discipline on the WCRA Segment 7 Leaderboard will be seeded into the long round of the final performance Sunday, May 9.

The No. 1 athlete on the WCRA Leaderboard may participate in the qualifying rounds of competition for the payout and will not jeopardize their seeded position. 

How Many From The Leaderboard Advance?

Timed Events: 

The Top 64 in each timed event discipline on the WCRA Segment 7 Rodeo Corpus Christi, Texas Leaderboard will be eligible to enter and participate in this event.

Rough Stock: 

The top 30 athletes from the WCRA Segment 7 Leaderboard, in each of the Rough Stock disciplines, shall advance to the performances.
