AUSTIN, TEXAS- World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) and the legendary Mount Isa Mines Rodeo of Australia are pleased to announce that each champion from the June 1 WCRA Titletown Stampede will have the opportunity to compete at the early August Mount Isa Mines Rodeo. This opportunity, which includes lodging and airfare, is an expanded effort on the Mount Isa-WCRA alliance partnership.
“I believe that this is a very unique opportunity for rodeo athletes, which has not been available before,” said WCRA President, Bobby Mote. “The chance to send a team to represent North America to Australia is exciting.”
Since 1959, the rodeo has been a non-profit event that has grown to the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, offering a packed four-day program of rodeo events and non-stop entertainment. The Mount Isa Mines Rodeo is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland and promoted as part of the It’s Live! in Queensland event calendar.
Mount Isa Mines Rodeo Chief Executive Officer Ms Natalie Flecker said it was an exciting opportunity to launch in the Isa Rodeo’s 60th Year anniversary.
“It’s exciting to see the relationship from last year strengthen to be able to offer this opportunity for USA competitors of WCRA to be able to compete on Australian soil,” said Ms Flecker. “We look forward to welcoming them as it will add even more interest and excitement to our event.”
The June 1 one-day $1,000,000 Titletown Stampede will feature the world’s top athletes from around the globe who have qualified to compete through the WCRA Virtual Rodeo Qualifier (VRQ), a web-based app used to track rodeo athletes performances worldwide.
Athletes in each discipline —including both headers and heelers in the team-roping event — will compete for more than $111,000, with the champions walking away with $50,000 each. For athletes interested in learning more about the WCRA, visit wcrarodeo.com.
Since launching in May of 2018, the WCRA and its partners have awarded more than $3,565,000 in new money to rodeo athletes.
