The World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) recently announced that Rodeo Corpus Christi will play host to the first stop to the 2022 WCRA Triple Crown of Rodeo (TCR). The first 2022 WCRA Major Rodeo will be held May 11-14 and will payout $550,000.
Qualifying Rounds will occur in Robstown, Texas at Richard M. Borchard Regional Fair Grounds May 9-10, 2022
The TCR is a series of annual major rodeo events which includes an annual bonus that will pay $1 million to any one athlete or collection of athletes who win first place in any three consecutive WCRA Major Rodeos. WCRA Triple Crown of Rodeo events are all featured in CBS Television network broadcasts each year.
Youth athletes age 13-19 (as of May 9, 2022) will also have an opportunity to compete in the $550,000 Rodeo Corpus Christi and a $21,000 DY incentive.
The top 8 timed event athletes on the WCRA DY Leaderboard will compete in the qualifying rounds and be eligible for a $21,000 incentive purse as well as having the same opportunity to advance through the entire rodeo.

The WCRA Division Y (DY) is a youth division designed to give youth the most exclusive opportunity to qualify and compete in a WCRA major rodeo.
DY athletes must be between the ages of 13-19 (as of May 9, 2022)
Youth competitors can begin earning points today and must nominate their efforts by April 10, 2022 to count towards “Segment DY”. Nominating DY and the open division will not be permitted.
Athletes will be given the opportunity to nominate for $25 and earn points or the youth division.
Youth can nominate any Youth Rodeo event which has publicly verifiable results. Points are awarded for paid places from the event. At WCRA “Alliance” nomination will make you eligible for “Consolation Points”. In the event you do not finish in a paid position, you will recieve consolation points for your nomination.

- Youth athletes are only allowed to nominate in the open or the youth, not both
- If an athlete does switch divisions, all money paid towards those nominations will be provided in a coupon code to be used towards future nominations
WCRA points will be awarded up to 10 money earning places. If an association does not consistently award money, and WCRA is able to consistently find published results with points, then WCRA will award points up to 10 point earning places. WCRA will not switch between money and points to award WCRA points for an association.

The May 2022 Rodeo Corpus Christi will host competitors in each of the six disciplines; girl’s breakaway roping, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping, and barrel racing, — each athlete competing for their piece of the $550,000 purse and the $21,000 DY incentive.
