“God Bless Rodeo.”
Those were the last three words of Bobby Mote’s acceptance speech today, as he took his rightful place in rodeo history for the rest of time with the ProRodeo Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022.
Four gold buckles, 25 National Finals Rodeo go-round wins, an NFR average crown and bareback riding championships at virtually every rodeo in the country. Heck, at one time you were even second only to Trevor Brazile in the world all-around race, because you can team rope, too.
Merit makes you a worthy Hall of Famer, but we have so much more to admire you for.
Thank you for your unwavering faith, being a loyal family man and friend, your unshakable humility and your refusal to take no for an answer when it comes to raising the rodeo bar.
You have changed the game for the better, even when it was hard and came at great personal sacrifice.
Thanks for everything, Bobby Mote, and mad respect. You earned it.
