AUSTIN, TEXAS- World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) and Stroud Rodeo Association of Australia are proud to announce they have aligned for the September 15 Stroud Rodeo in New South Wales. This collaboration is a continuedeffort to expandopportunities for rodeo athletes to earn larger payouts at marquee events and engage fans through the sport of rodeo.

“Aligning with Stroud Rodeo is yet another example that the future of Rodeo knows no boundaries,” said Bobby Mote, President WCRA.  “I am anxious to see our friends from “Down Under” take advantage of this tremendous opportunity”.

Competitors in all open events (minus bull riding) at the September event will have the opportunity to “Nominate and Win, You’re In” for the first WCRA $500,000 Semi-Final event scheduled for November 15-18, 2018 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, OK. The Semi-Finals will be followed by the first WCRA $1-million major rodeo in January 2019. The additional 2019 WCRA large-payout events will be announced very soon.

This is another step towards developing a pathway that will offer Australia’s best rodeo athletes the opportunity to compete for six million dollars ($USD) in incremental prize money at major WCRA events in the U.S.A.

All Professional Bull Riders Australia (PBRA) events recently aligned with the WCRA, with Cloncurry’s Jason Mara currently ranked number three on the WCRA standings and Tully’s Michael Smith at number 20. Stroud is the first Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft & Rodeo Association (ABCRA) rodeo to align with WCRA.

“Stroud Rodeo Association is excited to be a part of this new opportunity for rodeo athletes,” said Stroud Rodeo Association Executive Committeemen, David Gorton. “We are very happy to be a part of this exciting new chapter in Australian rodeo history.”

In early May, WCRA announced the major rodeo events series that will award six million dollars to competitors, an innovative virtual qualification app and world ranking system for athletes to qualify for high-payout rodeos, and other growth initiatives for the industry.

The $6 million in payouts will be comprised of four large rodeos each featuring a $1-million purse. Four semi-final qualifier events will provide the additional $2 million in prize money. The $6MM WCRA Rodeo Event Series will occur in four independent segments throughout 2019. Qualifying will be based on points, rather than dollars won, through a new world ranking points system – the WCRA Virtual Rodeo Qualifier (VRQ) is available to all rodeo athletes by visiting
